Karpathos is one of the many islands in Greece. The island is part of the Dodecanese archipelago and is – after Rhodes – the largest island of this archipelago. Karpathos is located in the South-East of Greece between the two most famous Greek islands, namely Crete and Rhodes. Karpathos is an elongated, mountainous island.
On the east side of Karpathos you will find the capital Pigadia (sometimes also called Karpathos city of Little New York). Pigadia, like the rest of the island, has no mass tourism and we can safely call it “pleasantly busy”. Pigadia has a lively harbor with boulevard where many restaurants and terraces are located.
On the west side of the island you will find the second largest village on the island of Arkassa, but there are also many more nice villages such as Messochori, Amoopi and Olympos.
Karpathos is perfect for couples who enjoy an active beach holiday without mass tourism. On this island you can enjoy the beautiful beaches, nature, Greek food and Greek hospitality.
Climate and travel time
Karpathos has a wonderful Mediterranean sea climate. From May to October the weather is perfect for a sun holiday. If you prefer walking, April or the end of October is the best month. Every month has its own beautiful characteristics.
